General Information

Welcome to the homepage of the Central European Seminar on Computer Graphics (CESCG). The CESCG presents a special and unique opportunity for students interested in computer graphics, to participate in an international event that is similar to a scientific conference. It is organized by several computer graphics groups in Central Europe to give excellent students the possibility to test and improve their skills in research, scientific writing, publishing and presenting. Another important mission of the CESCG is to connect computer graphics communities of the Visegrad region and behind to build lasting friendships and promote collaborations between future researchers and/or engineers.

Dates

The CESCG usualy takes place in April or May. Guided by local supervisors, the student work on their research topics during the whole winter term. The submissions deadline is in January. Each paper is reviewd by at least two international experts, the process takes approximately 3 weeks. Supported by the members of the program committee, students submit the final versions of the papers at the end of March.

Aims and Scope of CESCG

The main idea of CESCG is to bring undergraduate students, who are interested in computer graphics, together across borders of universities and countries. The seminar is an international event, where students can present their excellent work to other students. Participating students are studying computer science for at least five or six semesters, thus a basic level of expertise in research is fortunately a present qualification, which guarantees a lot of high-quality presentations. As part of the CESCG we also giive workshops on scientific writing and presenting for all participants who want to plan their career and improve scientific skills.

Of course the overall topic of the CESCG is computer graphics. Specifically the following fields are covered by the seminar:

  • Virtual and Augmented reality
  • Scientific Visualization
  • Rendering and Global Illumination
  • Animation, Multimedia
  • Image processing and Computer Vision

Organization

CESCG is an annual event for students, which is organized in cooperation of the Institute of Computer Graphics and Algorithms at Vienna University of Technology, and the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics at Comenius University in Bratislava. As we are focused on the Visegrad countries, our main cooperating partners are West Pomeranian University of Technology Szczecin, Czech Technical University in Prague and Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Student works of all participating groups are presented on three consecutive days at Smolenice castle in the vicinity of Slovak captial Bratislava. Seminar language is English. For further details see CESCG organizational notes. The CESCG is co-located with the SCCG whit a one day overlap. Students are encouraged to stay until the evening and listen to the SCCG talks.

Proceedings

CESCG contributions are avaliable in printed form and via world wide web. We require to use the LaTeX environment which is a standard for scientific publishing. Also we encourage the students to prepare videos and web presentations of their work. See the CESCG proceedings page for a collection of electronic CESCG proceedings.
